The Perkins 4108 marine diesel engine

Whats inside that motor and are parts still available?

A little looking around says parts are easy to find, ADT in Cape Town are the local agents and I have bought a spare top end gasket set for as little as R150, about U$18.00.

• Gudgeon pins x 4
• Gudgeon pin circlips x 8
• Piston ring sets x 4
• Small end bushes x 4
• Big end bearing set (4 pairs)
• Main bearing set (3 pairs)
• Thrust washer set (3 halves)
• Top gasket set - includes valve seals and injector copper washers
• Cylinder head gasket - top quality and lined with silicon water jacket sealant
• Bottom gasket set - includes gaskets for marine versions
• Front and rear crankshaft oil seals
• Set of core plugs
• Fuel lines washers and seals set

This looks like fun!

The next question is where do I find an old Perkins 4108 engine in need need of a re build?
