Jodie Sheckter, a South African was well known for driving in a special style, he had the tallent to enter a corner, then throw the back end of the car out and while others were busy driving around the corner Jodie was driving out of it in a straight line.

Here is the proof of the idea, taken I think at East London and around 1968, the car is a rear engined Renault 8. Jody Sheckter later became the F1 World Champion driving for Ferrari.
