The Matra 530

Who would guess that one of these cars was in Cape Town, it was a little shabby last time I saw it.

Back in the early seventies Matra made some wonderfull F1 cars with a V12 engine, for this type 530 they turned to the German Ford V4 which was around a 1740cc size I think?

This Matra 530 has been known to me for a very long time, seen here outside an auto electrical shop near the Cape Town city centre, it was still not for sale. The car had a transmision failure and the box was no longer available.

Richard, the auto electritian told me the car was not for sale, even though the owner was not doing anything with the car,what a shame. I took these two pictures around fifteen years back and have not seen the car since.

Where is this car now I wonder?
