The Imps rear hub and Supalite wheel

Seen here with the car still inverted, we were putting the drive wheel hubs back, working this way up sure is easy!

All parts are removed and bead blasted, the painted parts too, they are then re primed and painted in the correct and original colour. The tab washer has not been bent over in this picture.

Note the Sport 1 inch drive shaft and Yokohama race rubber, an import for this car build.

The wheel has lots of space, even with the wider rim and tyre.

If Supalite alloy rims are used, the Imps standard wheel stud is far too short, check the un machined one in the center, even with these imported Ford Escort studs the length was only just long enough.

We had each new stud turned down to an interferance fit, that the bright steel you can see.

  1. Hi Roy, Have you had no problems with the interference fit studs? I'm currently in the process of removing the entire right rear trailing arm with 8" rim wheel and tyre from a race Davrian due to one of the interference fit 75mm long studs which were also welded to the hubs (small weld on one side of head) after the weld broke.

Not very handy, it happened at a race track.

I'm going to remove all the benighted studs and find some with proper splines.
