Having raced an Imp with a 998cc block and also owned a 998cc Sunbeam Stiletto road car, I know a fair bit about this kind of Imp engine. Thats the assembly and driving of them but this far I have never built one from a bare block status, this is about to change.
The original 875cc liners have been taken right out,the alloy steps left will now support the new and larger steel liners.
The steel liner, note the flat side, this matches up with a second liner, the gasket at this point becomes quite narrow.
Seen here, the liners have been removed from the block so some minor alloy welds can be done to the alloy block.
This is Gavin, he has just welded the head bolt lower holes up,this is to prevent water leaks, there are just the three and on the upper or left hand side of the block when its installed in the car.
How hard can this be,we will find out!
