We found this one in Pietermaritzburg,we know how it got there, as Gavin had bought it from Reg his cousin, some while before. What we do not know, is how it ended up in a Johannesburg police pound with a German D sitcker on and Mozambique number plates on!
This is a 1967 model with Mozambique contacts,it had a speedo in kilometers when it arrived, the car was originally white.Did some expat working in the country take this out as a private export we wonder?
The car more or less as it arrived,it was straight enough and with some work we had the engine working and the car was a driver. The restoration became a rolling one,as the car was used quite often.
Used to do a picture shoot outside Hout Bays Kronnendal building,is this the oldest building in the village. The Imp Club used some of the pictures.
By now the car was transformed, new carpets and a cleaned up interior. The entire car had been re sprayed and made to look and handle more like a modern, when fitted with larger and wider steel rim wheels. The tyres were now imported 155 x 65 x 13.The wheels were reversed rims made by a specialist ,he said they were off a small GM Opel. Just look how nice the car is with these small up grades.
