Imps were exported first to South Africa, the rest of the world got theirs later.
That included America (usa) Australia,NewZealand,Sweden,Holland,Venezuela, even Mexico I think?
Stanely Motors were the makers and sellers in South Africa, they came in as CKD cars (nice name!) and were part assembled in a factory, then distibuted by Stanley Motors retail side.
Around 1966 Bob Kelsey took a 998cc Imp to top honours in the South African Saloon Car Championship. The car was so fast in Cape Town,it took the 1300cc class too.
Note both front and rear anti roll bars and what are probably Dunlop R7 race tyres?
