Argus 75 race imp engine

The arrival of parts from the Rootes Competitions Department saw me build my first race Imp engine, the spec was based on the works R20 camshaft and the 998cc liners and pistons.

The block and cylinder head were Mk1, it was what I had, the idea of a Mk2 block was just too expensive back in 1971.

The output from this motor was 86bhp on a rolling road, thats at the wheels, it was a very quick car.

An Eric Wells photo.

Killarney race circuit.
